Pre-Surgical Instructions

Information on Pet Care Prior to Colleyville Animal Clinic Surgery

Surgery has been recommended for your pet. These instructions are designed to help prepare you and your pet so everything will proceed smoothly. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact us.

• NO food after 10:00 pm the evening before surgery.
• NO TREATS!!!
• Fresh water should be available until the morning of the surgery.

Surgery patients are admitted to the hospital between 7:30 and 8:00 am or, if necessary, may be brought in the day before surgery and boarded overnight at no additional charge.

Allow the patient plenty of time to freely evacuate the bowel and bladder before being admitted to the hospital. A pre-anesthetic sedative will be given before surgery. Surgeries are performed during late morning hours. A hospital staff member will call after surgery to give you an update. Patients being discharged must be picked up before 6:00 pm.

Patients coming in for surgery must be current on all vaccinations and labwork.

• Dogs: Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, Fecal, Heartworm Test
• Cats: Rabies, FVRCPC, Feline Leukemia, Fecal
